ABS is forced ON if the rear wheels become locked. This is not a failing or defect of the VSC86.
Our firm assumes no liability for car accidents, with or without our products installed.
Although the VSC86 will not interfere with 3rd party OBD devices, 3rd party devices may interfere with the VSC86. To ensure flawless performance, only connect the VSC86 to your OBD plug and disconnect all other OBD devices.
Here is how the VSC86 works. Seconds after you attach the VSC86 to OBD while Ignition is ON, the VSC86 sends single command to the car's ECU computer, instructing it to activate a special Maintenance Mode that disables TRC, VSC & ABS. (Only works when engine is warm!) The VSC86 does NOT send constant communication to the vehicle's ECU, which means the VSC86 will never interfere with normal vehicle functions. And although ABS is disabled, it is only partially disabled in that Maintenance Mode is programmed to activate ABS in the event the rear wheels are locked -- this cannot be altered. Simply disconnect the VSC86 and turn off your Ignition, then restart the engine to re-activate VSC, TRC and ABS.
Toyota 86 & Subaru BRZ cars must have the engine warmed up before the VSC86 can switch the ECU into maintenance mode to disable TRC, VSC & ABS. Furthermore, in the event of an engine stall (when warmed-up), starting the engine again with the VSC86 attached will cause the VSC86 to send its command to the ECU again to maintain the maintenance mode (i.e., to ensure VSC, TRC & ABS are disabled).
